Does ChatGPT allow NSFW?

No. As of October 2026, ChatGPT NSFW content is still switched off. ChatGPT won't write explicit sex scenes, sext with you or make explicit images, whatever plan you pay for. OpenAI's Model Spec, the public rulebook for how its models should behave (the current version is dated 18 August 2026), says the assistant "should not generate erotica", and that the rule covers "text, audio … or visual content".

It does get close. Ask for a steamy scene and the Model Spec's own example reply is a story that's "non-graphic but still steamy": tension, a kiss, then a fade to black. It will also talk about sex, relationships and erotica openly without lecturing you. So if your question was does ChatGPT allow NSFW, the honest answer is romance yes, explicit no.

What happened to ChatGPT adult mode?

ChatGPT adult mode was announced, delayed twice, then put on hold. It isn't out, and it has no date.

• 14 October 2025: Sam Altman posted: "In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our 'treat adult users like adults' principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults."
• December 2025: OpenAI moved it to the first quarter of 2026 while it kept testing its age checks.
• March 2026: it slipped again. OpenAI said it still believed in "the principle of treating adults like adults, but getting the experience right will take more time."
• 26 March 2026: the Financial Times reported that OpenAI had paused adult mode indefinitely after pushback from advocacy groups and its own staff. OpenAI told TechCrunch it had "nothing further to add."

The door isn't welded shut. The August 2026 Model Spec still says OpenAI is "exploring" how to allow erotica "in age-appropriate contexts". But exploring isn't shipping, and any site selling you an "adult mode unlock" is selling you nothing.

Is jailbreaking ChatGPT for NSFW worth it?

No. Getting NSFW ChatGPT out of jailbreak prompts is a bad deal for three reasons:

1. It's against the rules. OpenAI's Usage Policies list "circumventing our safeguards" as a banned use, and say that breaking or circumventing them "may mean you lose access to our systems or experience other penalties." That's often the same account that holds your work chats, files and saved memory.
2. It breaks mid-scene. A prompt that slips past the filter tonight hits a refusal ten messages in, or stops working after the next model update. You spend the evening rewriting prompts instead of enjoying the scene.
3. It was never built for this. No characters, no pictures of them, no heat setting. You're dragging a work assistant somewhere it doesn't want to go.

What about Sora NSFW and ChatGPT images?

If you came looking for Sora NSFW, there's nothing left to find. OpenAI closed the Sora app and website on 26 April 2026 and the Sora API on 24 September 2026. ChatGPT's own image generation follows the same Model Spec rule as its text, so explicit pictures are a no there as well.

What ChatGPT is still better at

To be fair, ChatGPT wins at almost everything that isn't this. Coding, research, summarising a 40-page PDF, drafting the email you've been putting off, planning a trip: it's one of the best general assistants around, and nothing on this list comes close. Keep it for that. Just don't ask it to be your girlfriend.
